Animal Feed Processing

The establishment of the Animal Feed Processing Factory in Bahir Dar town, the Capital of the Amhara Region, has proved to be vitally important for different cross-sections of the society, including farmers, suppliers, consumers, job seekers, and others. Thanks to its establishment, farmers are now able to sell their maize, wheat, soybeans, peas, oil seeds, and other farm products to the factory at fair prices, unlike previous situations in which they were selling their products for cheaper prices. Therefore, it can be fairly concluded that the factory has a backward linkage with producers and suppliers of raw materials located in different parts of the country in general and in Amhara Region in particular. The factory has also a forward linkage with livestock and poultry sectors, as it is supplying them with different types of animal feed, like pelletized diary feed, broiler poultry feed,  non-pelletized layer poultry feed,  pelletized beef feed, and other products. The factory is the largest in Ethiopia and can produce 96,000 MT feed per year, which is a big amount compared to the quantity that similar companies can manufacture.
